Travel to Bandjoun and visit the chief’s palace and museum, delving into the fascinating history of the Bandjoun people. Continue to Bafoussam for an overnight stay before heading to Foumban, the seat of the Bamoun Kingdom. In Foumban, tour the Sultan’s palace, explore the artisan markets, and admire traditional crafts.

Next, head to Dschang, perched on a high plateau, to visit the Civilization Museum and learn about Cameroon’s colonial and modern history. From there, descend to Buea, a town on the slopes of Mount Cameroon, where you’ll explore colonial architecture and Bakweri traditions.

In Limbe, witness the Bakingili lava flow, visit the Bonangombe Slave Relic site, and enjoy a fresh seafood dinner at the Downbeach fish market. Conclude your journey with a city tour of Douala, featuring Bonanjo district, King Bell’s Pagode, and bustling markets.

Day by Day Itinerary

DAY 1: ARRIVE – DOUALA, CAMEROON

Arrive in Douala, meet and greet, and airport assistance before transferring to your hotel. Tour orientation. Meal(s) Included: Dinner Hotel: La Falaise Bonapriso

Day 2: DOUALA – BANDJOUN – BAFOUSSAM

After breakfast, travel to Bandjoun for a tour of the area. Your visit will include a visit to the chief’s palace, which is also home to the museum which shall be visited to get an understanding of the origin and evolution of the Bandjoun people. Continue to Bafoussam, the regional capital overnight. Meal(s) Included: Breakfast and Dinner Hotel: Hotel Zingana

Day 3: BAFOUSSAM – FOUMBAN – BANGOU

After breakfast travel to Foumban, the seat of the Bamoun Kingdom and dynasty for a tour of the area. Your tour will include a visit to the Palace of the Sultan, as well as the museum for traditional culture and crafts. Other activities include a visit to the city mosque, and the artisan market where one can buy crafts from master woodcarvers, basket weavers, and embroiders. Your visit to the palace shall also be punctuated by animation from the palace musicians. Depart Foumban for Bangou overnight. Meals: Breakfast and Dinner Hotel: Tagidor Garden Resort

DAY 4: BANGOU – DSCHANG – BUEA

After an early breakfast, you drive to the locality of Dschang. Because it sits on a high plateau, Dschang is afforded relatively cool temperatures and several scenic views. Your visit here will focus on the Civilization Museum which recounts the entire history of Cameroon from discovery, and colonization to the present day. Done with the visit, you leave town descending in altitude at 1,200m to arrive at the Mbo Plains for your journey to Buea in the South West Region of the country rising again in altitude as the town is located on the slopes of Mount Cameroon, the highest point in West Africa. Arrive late afternoon and Overnight In Buea. Meal(s) Included: Breakfast and Dinner Hotel: Mountain Hotel

DAY 5: BUEA – LIMBE

Buea being a typically colonial town during the German era, you begin with a tour of the city to admire old German structures, before heading to Bonalyonga, the seat of the Paramount ruler of the Bakweri tribe. If the King is present, then you pay him a courtesy visit but if not then you’ll still be privileged to meet some elders and custodians of the culture and tradition of the people to tell you the tales and evolution of the tribe. You later drive down to the seaside town of Limbe where you do a city tour before the Bakingili lava flow stop point following the eruption of Mount Cameroon in 1999. You continue to visit the Bonangombe Slave Relic site. This was the route embarked on by slaves who were transported to Europe and the Americas and termed the point of no return. You continue to the hotel and later the Downbeach fish market where you’ll have an outdoor dinner of sea products. Overnight in Limbe. DAY 6: LIMBE – DOUALA

Breakfast and drive to Douala to arrive late morning and embark on a city tour. Highlights will include the Bonanjo administrative district, the Pagode of King Bell, the Akwa business district, the central market, and the residential neighbourhoods of Bonamoussadi, Kotto, and Makepe. Meal(s) Included: Breakfast and Dinner Hotel: La Falaise Bonapriso

DAY 7: DOUALA – INTERNATIONAL DEPARTURE

Activities on this day will be determined by flight departure time. If AM, breakfast, and transfer to the airport for international departure. If PM, a drive to the outskirts of Douala through the Japoma Olympic stadium and Dibamba on the Douala – Yaounde highway to Edea and return to Douala for check out and transfer to the airport for your onward flight. Meal(s) Included: Breakfast
